Since hitting the drum 'n' bass scene with his LVPK EP in 2016, Simula—the stage name of Surrey, England's Will Ryan—has proven to be a constantly evolving producer with both light and dark sides. First known for twisted robotic and rumbling jump-up tracks like "Heavyweight" and "Turbulence," Simula next embraced the D'n'B subgenre's goofier potential with 2018's Ravioli, an EP full of sly aural jests. He found intense collaborators in Distress Signal, a D'n'B supergroup with Kanine and K Motionz that kicked off that same year with "Hurricane." Songs like "The End" and "Warthog" continued Simula's journey into darkness, but in 2019 he offered up the irresistible confection "You & I," a collaboration with singer Bru-C. While subsequent track "Run This Place" takes off in a sparse new direction, 2021's "Good Vibrations" shimmers with sparkling keyboards, clicking percussion, and an ethereal vocal from Australia's Embr.
