South London singer/rapper Yung Filly’s musical style is propelled by his alluring charisma. Born Andres Felipé Barrientos in 1995 to a Colombian family, the artist began using social media as a platform for self-expression in the mid-2010s. By 2017, Yung Filly’s unique approach to crafting content led to regional stardom. That year, he released his melodic, multilingual debut single “Take Time,” about the patience he seeks in a lover. Yung Filly’s follow-up songs—“La Paila” and “Mucho Más” from 2018—were similar in style and subject, with the crooner letting his carnal desires lead the way in a distinctive mix of Latin rap and Afrobeats. In 2020, he would collaborate with fellow social-media creative Chunkz, as well as British MC Geko, on “Confidence,” another amorous ode to a potential partner. With a self-assured feature on Javan’s R&B-influenced single “Again,” also from 2020, Yung Filly showcased his versatility while further revealing his charming personality.
