Crescendo’s popularity in the Thai funk-pop scene has only continued to grow. A supergroup assembled by bassist Norathep Masaeng at the turn of the millennium, the band has weathered lineup changes and a brief hiatus. Yet their jazz and funk-tinged pop sound has stayed smooth, breezy and melodic. Gentle tracks such as “The Truth of My Heart” pulse along on a quiet groove—but as the noodling guitar solo and sci-fi synths on “Venus” prove, the band aren’t afraid to build to a climax worthy of their name.
