Sertanejo is in Felipe Araújo’s blood. The Brazilian singer/songwriter began his career when he was a teenager, forming a duo first with João Pedro and then Zé André, but it was his father who persuaded Felipe to launch his solo career after his older brother, singer Cristiano, died in a car crash. That was in 2015 and now Felipe calls Cristiano his “biggest inspiration”. Felipe isn’t ashamed to admit he’s an emotional songwriter. “Music requires a lot of people’s souls,” he says. “You have to play what your soul asks for, what you really like. I’m a romantic guy.”
