Beaux Arts Trio Essentials

Founded in 1955 as a cadre of powerhouse musicians—pianist Menahem Pressler, violinist Daniel Guilet, and cellist Bernard Greenhouse—the Beaux Arts Trio offered up thrilling readings of canonic chamber works for over five decades. Rhapsodic, push-and-pull synchronicity led to intoxicating performances of Beethoven’s Piano Trio No. 5 in D and Brahms’ sentimental Piano Trio No. 1 in B, while the trio’s take on Mozart’s Piano Quartet No. 1 in G Minor delivers plenty of levity. Though the group’s roster rotated throughout the years, ultimately disbanding in 2008, they continue to be celebrated for their ebullience, emotional depth and expansive repertoire.
