Norway famously traffics in black metal by the shipload—which made it a tremendous deal when Kaizers Orchestra became the country's first major export in alt-rock. Since their 2001 breakout album Ompa Til Du Dør, their chromatic, folky jams have blended tight electric riffs (“Tusen dråper regn”) with intoxicated dissonance (“Kontroll På Kontinentet”), creating a wholly unique sound.
