Ney Matogrosso found fame straight out of the gate as a member of Secos & Molhados, a band that conquered Brazil with a blend of folk-rock and glam. By the time he started his solo career in 1975, Matogrosso emerged as a kind of Brazilian David Bowie, with an ever-changing, always-outrageous image and an almost inhuman vocal range. In the mid ‘80s, Matogrosso left the outlandish antics behind and pursuing a more understated, pop-friendly sound.
