Just like the title of one of their biggest singles, "Floating”, Jape's electro-pop feels positively buoyant. Since 2003, the band has served as an experimental outlet for Richie Egan, the bassist of Dublin's The Redneck Manifesto. His palette is admirably diverse: some songs are built around guitars and rough beats, while others explore glittering, hypnotic synth-pop. Flitting between cool falsetto and a more unstudied tone, Egan's voice is the glue that holds it all together.
