Héctor & Tito, Zion & Lennox, Wisin & Yandel... duos were the thing when reggaetón exploded in the '00s. Relative newcomers Angel & Khriz quickly surged to the top of the charts with a self-produced sound that struck a new balance between the genre and gentler tropical music, prompting Héctor "El Father" to sign them to his MVP label in '04. A string of smash hits followed, and the duo continued to lean heavily on bachata and other eclectic styles to soften reggaetón's sometimes relentless attack.
