Brandy Clark (born in 1975, in Morton, WA) got her start on Music Row, where she co-wrote slice-of-life hits like Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart” and The Band Perry’s “Better Dig Two.” Her compelling depictions of country folk led to heavy hitters like Sheryl Crow and Marty Stuart encouraging her to step out from behind the songwriting desk, and she released her first album, 12 Stories, in 2013. Clark's major-label debut, Big Day in a Small Town, came out in 2016; Your Life is a Record followed in 2020. In 2023 Clark brought her songwriting talents to the theater, writing songs—and nabbing a Tony nomination—with her longtime creative partner Shane McAnally for the corn chronicle Shucked. Shortly after that musical-comedy opened on Broadway, she released her fourth album, the Brandi Carlile-produced Brandy Clark.
