Much like his wife, Kari Jobe, with whom he frequently collaborates, Cody Carnes doesn’t restrict his talents to any one genre when expressing his faith through music. The singer/songwriter and worship leader (whose solo debut, The Darker the Night / The Brighter the Morning, arrived in 2017) moves gracefully between atmospheric CCM and pensive praise & worship anthems like “Nothing Else” and “Christ Be Magnified.” Regardless of style, Carnes’ moving voice is a constant. It’s a beautiful instrument, one capable of hitting high, fragile notes that strike a balance between unshakable devotion and the vulnerabilities of being human.
