Hailing from Bristol, Get the Blessing are punk-inspired Dadaists disguised as a traditional jazz quartet. Bassist Jim Barr and drummer Clive Dearner come from Portishead, and like the band that was named after the town, these guys are out to investigate the unexpected. In this playlist, funky rhythms give way to atmospheric torrents of psychedelia and Krautrock. With wandering solos and occasional explosions of guitar, Get the Blessing shows that they can kick out the jams, but they never lose sight of the groove. Even when the rhythm moves like melting ice cream, there's something essentially funky about this mischievous British outfit.
