Formed in 1978 in Toronto, Anvil spent much of their career fighting for a mainstream audience, despite having superstar fans in bands like Metallica and Slayer. In 2008, after 13 crushing studio albums filled with monstrous riffs and lighter-sparking choruses, an in-depth and bittersweet documentary, Anvil! The Story of Anvil, was released to widespread acclaim. The film did wonders for the band's career and they were soon supporting acts like AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Motörhead, and others. The group continue to carry the heavy metal torch, having lost none of their spirit.
