There aren't many partnerships in Japanese jazz more enticing than the pairing of vocalist Yoshie Nakano and guitarist Masaki Mori in cabaret revivalist EGO-WRAPPIN'. After scoring a breakout hit with “Shikisai no Blues” in 2000, they've remained in the spotlight, urged on by fans of dextrous guitar strumming and smoky vocals. The duo has continued to push their sound to new heights two decades into their career: the May 2018 single “A Little Dance SKA” is a thrilling medley of buoyant trumpets and warm, romantic lyrics that suggest their journey is far from over.
