Bursting out of Lisbon's melting pot of sounds and sights, Enchufada is an offbeat record label spreading a new brand of global dance music. Founded by members of techno dance project Buraka Som Sistema, the Portuguese label's releases show an anything-goes approach, taking in energetic Angolan kuduro as well as zouk bass with a BPM fast enough to make heads spin. Yet the smorgasbord of competing rhythms in producer Nic Sarno's club-fillers still sits comfortably with the cut-and-paste experimental reggae of Dengue Dengue Dengue, creating a perfect snapshot of a quirky label in its prime.
