The gloomy post-punk of Interpol's '02 debut, Turn on the Bright Lights, established an irrevocable link to Joy Division, but the band's sustained success proved that they were far more than mere copycats. Embracing a much warmer sound for their '04 sophomore, Antics, the New Yorkers went on to score Top 10 entries with '07 follow-up Our Love to Admire and their eponymous '10 LP. Following various lineup changes, side projects and record label shuffles, the group returned triumphant in '14 with the back to basics El Pintor.
