Amel Larrieux first found musical success with bandmate Bryce Wilson as one half of the short-lived R&B duo Groove Theory. She left the group after just one album, citing a desire for more artistic freedom, and released her modestly successful solo debut, Infinite Possibilities, in '00. She and husband Laru Larrieux founded independent label Blisslife Records, from which she's issued a series of albums showcasing her savvy songwriting and sky-high range. She's also contributed to several movie soundtracks, in turn introducing new audiences to her soulful sound.
