Some days there's barely a ripple

On the surface of the river as she flows

Perfect skin gently scarred

by feather branches of the willows

Kingfisher dives for his prize

On the sunny side where the trees grow wild

I've seen two sides of the river

The rapid and the calm

The power of the river

Can soothe and she can harm

Some days rage spills over

Bursting the boundaries of the shore

mournful reflections,

Shattered by shrapnel in the storm

Full moon skies, high tides

Reach the barren side, where birds can't hide
