The fourth album from Mexican norteño star Javier Rosas means to leave its listeners breathless. Keeping to a breakneck pace from nearly start to finish, La Ley de la Selva strips away much of the banda-style ornamentation heard on 2017's more eclectic Hecho en México, letting the men of Su Artillería Pesada gallop through corridos like "Chapito Barrial" and "El 05." Even when chronicling the grisly aftermath of a shoot-out on "Vivir Para Contarlo," Rosas keeps the energy high, though he does occasionally slow for a tear-stained love song like the aptly titled "Lamento."
