October kicks off with Armaan Malik’s atmospheric, disco-laced “Theher Ja” before a dive into the sweetly expressive instrumental title track. Composers Abhishek Arora, Shantanu Moitra and Anupam Roy bring melody into sharp focus on the entire album, coaxing powerful performances out of vocalists who are all too happy to rise to the task. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s improvised passages add passion to the ballad (“Tab Bhi Tu”), while Sunidhi Chauhan infuses the melancholy “Manwaa” with tenderness. Disco spins back for another turn on the floor with Monali Thakur’s “Chal”, complete with a lightly funky guitar, finger snaps and ABBA-style harmonies.
