Kameron Marlowe’s “Keepin’ the Lights On” is more than just a hit single—it’s an origin story. The heartfelt track offers glimpses at Marlowe’s life growing up small-town North Carolina, like the job his father worked “for 20-some-odd years” and his mother’s Mary Kay side hustle. It’s fitting, then, that the track would title Marlowe’s sophomore album, as the up-and-comer and The Voice alum continues to establish himself as an exciting new voice in the genre. Opener “911” is a clever take on a dive-bar meet-cute, with Marlowe likening a new flame to “a five-alarm fire.” “Tennessee Don’t Mind” is an evocative love song to the Volunteer State, likening it to “a star in the Southern sky.” And songwriter Ella Langley joins Marlowe on “Strangers,” a breakup song about splits that won’t stick. Music Row favorite Dann Huff (Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride) produced the LP, with co-writers including Daniel Tashian, Kendell Marvel, and Josh Osborne.
