Jaymes Reunion
Everything You've Been Looking For
アルバム · Pop · 2010
Everything You’ve Been Looking For follows up on the promise of the band’s 2009 debut EP with a batch of buoyantly tuneful, warmly romantic songs. Singer Cameron Jaymes and his band mates radiate nice-guy charm in the manner of John Mayer and Matt Wertz, with a dash of Goo Goo Dolls-style roguery tossed in. Most of all, there’s a pronounced Paul McCartney vibe here, evident in breezy, ear-snagging tracks like “Fine,” “Lost It All” and “Trouble.” Jaymes seems equally comfortable with piano-based pieces like “If You Wanna Cry” and “Let It Shine” and acoustic guitar-centered numbers like “My Song” and “Forevermore.” While the band bounces more than it grooves, it does pull off some dreamy retro-soul moves on “The Answer.” The predominant lyric note is one of empathy and infatuation. Jaymes’ earnest tenor sounds both urgent and playful, never masking vulnerability under hipster swagger. Everything You’ve Been Looking For ought to please anyone with a taste for positive pop/rock delivered with sunny sincerity.
