In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Sitting in a dark cinema at the age of 6 and hearing the opening title of Star Wars playing for the very first time in 1977. I remember running home and trying to pick out the notes of the theme on the piano.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Berliner Philharmoniker, Kirill Petrenko, Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5 John Williams, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (The 20th Anniversary) The Beatles, Let It Be (2021 Mix) ET - I won this recording in a raffle in the 1980's and it was the first soundtrack album I ever owned. I played the cassette until it stoped working! Let It Be - Timeless genius! Tchaikovsky 5 - what an incredible performance and perfectly recorded.
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Trunk Greeting” While writing the soundtrack to this incredible movie for Apple TV+ I got to go out to Kenya and live with the elephants in the wild. A life changing experience.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Getting nominated for a Golden Globe for my score to Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. I recorded parts of the score in South Africa and parts at Abbey Road in London. The movie means a lot to me.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Yes! Every day is a fresh opportunity to write new music for movies. The future is an open book waiting to be written!
