b. 26 March 1917, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA, d. 3 June 1978, Huntsville, Alabama, USA. Wallace appeared on KWKH's The Louisiana Hayride and made several recordings in the late 50s, usually with his band, the Bama Drifters. Chiefly, though, and rightly, Wallace was best known as a songwriter. Among his many songs are "Back Street Affair", recorded by Webb Pierce and Kitty Wells, "You Got Some Explaining To Do", "Dog Hauled Around" and "I'm Gonna Turn You A' Loose", the last three of which appear often on CD compilations of his work. Songs in Wallace's repertoire, some of which were his own compositions, included "That's My Reward", "What'll I Do", "Mean, Mistreatin' Baby" and "Burning The Wind".
