Singer-producer Deep Jandu, a highly sought-after collaborator in the Punjabi music scene, cofounded the Royal Music Gang label to create a diverse roster of South Asian rising stars.
∙ As a teenager, he performed with Toronto’s internationally competitive bhangra dance group Sonay Gabroo Punjab De and trained with religious vocalist Jagdish Singh Virdi.
∙ On In 2 Deep, his 2013 sophomore album, he worked with Manchester-based producer DJ Surinder Rattan—one of the forerunners of UK’s bhangra-house music fusion scene.
∙ Jandu’s production work is featured on the soundtrack for Channa Mereya, which was nominated for Best Music Album at the 2018 Filmfare Awards Punjabi.
∙ “Pagol,” his 2019 Bengali-infused hit single featuring rapper Bohemia, garnered more than 1 million streams on its first day of release and spent 27 weeks on India’s Top 40 Pop chart.
∙ The music video for “Bombay to Punjab”—Jandu’s hit collaboration with rapper DIVINE—has been viewed more than 100 million times since its 2019 release.
