Singer-songwriter Delacey penned hits for other artists—most notably Halsey’s 2019 chart-topper “Without Me”—before releasing her own debut album, Black Coffee, in 2020.
• Delacey was born Brittany Marie Amaradio in Orange County, California. After getting kicked out of high school twice, she moved to New York City with her minimal savings.
• She wrote “New York City” while living in the Big Apple and struggling to find her footing. She returned to the West Coast soon after. In 2015, the Chainsmokers recorded the song with vocalist Victoria Zaro for their gold-selling EP Bouquet.
• After years of putting songwriting ahead of her own artistry, Delacey returned to New York in 2018 to write her debut album with songwriter-producer Ido Zmishlany, a longtime collaborator.
• In early 2019, Halsey’s “Without Me,” cowritten by Delacey, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s gone seven-times platinum and been streamed more than 2 billion times.
• Her 2020 debut album, Black Coffee, closes with the G-Eazy collaboration “Cruel Intentions.” The sexually charged song has amassed tens of millions of streams.
