Easily the most dexterous in the stable of Detroit techno pioneers, Kevin Saunderson is responsible for some of the hardest and most mechanistic techno to come out of the Motor City, as well as mainstream dance hits with his techno-pop act Inner City. The group hit the U.K. Top 40 nine times, and earned five number one club hits on the American dance chart as well. Saunderson's other efforts range from the hardcore rave of Tronik House to the gospel-inspired house of the Reese Project. After a Saunderson retrospective titled Faces & Phases appeared in 1996, he released his debut solo LP, Heavenly, as E-Dancer in 1998. Numerous mix CDs and singles have followed, and since the 2010s, Saunderson has worked extensively with his sons, Dantiez and Damarii. An updated lineup of Inner City released We All Move Together in 2020, and E-Dancer issued a self-titled full-length in 2025.
