Berry is a French singer/songwriter whose jazz-inflected style of music is rooted deeply in the tradition of chanson française. She made her debut in 2008 with Mademoiselle on Mercury Records. A collaboration with composer/producer Manou, plus producers Lionel Dudognon and Erwin Autrique, it was critically acclaimed upon its release and was ultimately nominated for a 2009 Victoires de la Musique award in the category of Album Révélation de l'Année (i.e., Best Album by a New Artist). The album charted throughout much of 2008, peaking at number 34, and was reissued late in the year in a collector's edition with bonus material. ~ Jason Birchmeier
