The sunshiny tunes of Japanese singer/songwriter Yokosawa Shunichiro traverse hazy dream pop, jangly and fuzzy guitar pop, and woozy, stylized bedroom pop. After uploading a series of increasingly lusher, home-recorded singles beginning in 2015, he presented his debut album, Haiji, in 2018.
Yokosawa Shunichiro began sharing his earliest, sparser indie pop tunes online after moving to Tokyo in 2015, experimenting with different instrument timbres and more complex textures as the months progressed. He'd released well over a dozen tracks before issuing his full-length debut, Haiji, in Japan in 2018. Portland label Day to Day Records gave the laptop-recorded album a U.S. release the following year, which he supported with a tour of the States. ~ Marcy Donelson
