When adulthood comes knocking, K-Pop boy band TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT for short) looks at it with healthy skepticism. Members Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and HueningKai excel in extracting the most salient emotions of their adolescence and young adulthood and stretching them to their limits through jubilant synth-pop (“CROWN”), harsh emo rock (“0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)”), and funky dance (“Sugar Rush Ride”). Debuting in 2019 on Seoul, South Korea’s HYBE Entertainment—the company’s first boy group in six years after BTS—TXT has conquered the pressure of the high-profile label association by staring it right in the face, flipping through multiple genres with ease and flexing collaborations with pop icons like the Jonas Brothers (“Do It Like That”) and Anitta (“Back for More”). The members’ expertise comes from a desire to share their stories like musical fantasies; through interconnected album groupings like The Dream Chapter and The Chaos Chapter, TXT has built an intimate universe that stands for not just music but a journey into personal interiority.
