Flatbush Zombies
Flatbush Zombiesについて
Rap trio Flatbush Zombies earned a reputation in the 2010s with iconography inspired by psychedelic rock stars and lyrics grounded in '90s hip-hop. Group members Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, and Erick Arc Elliott became childhood friends in Brooklyn's Flatbush neighborhood, bonding over anime and professional wrestling. They formed Flatbush Zombies in the early 2010s, naming themselves after what they felt was the death of ego and rebirth of new consciousness through drugs. After releasing a pair of mixtapes and their 2016 studio debut album (3001: A Laced Odyssey) and performing an electrifying live show, they garnered comparisons to Gravediggaz, Ol' Dirty Bastard, and Boot Camp Clik. They blended '90s golden-era grit with heavy-metal macabre and rockstar vibrance, using elastic voices and flows to splatter aggressive yet spiritual rhymes that stemmed from the highs and lows of otherworldly experiences. Their 2018 follow-up, Vacation In Hell, expanded their production roster and guest list, calling in features from Jadakiss, Bun B, and Denzel Curry. On the album, they share raps about depression and loss ("Trapped"), trading exhilarating flows ("M. Bison") and paying homage to rap legends ("Headstone"). After teaming with fellow NYC millennial rap crews PRO ERA and The Underachievers to form the supergroup Beast Coast in 2019 and releasing the rhyme barrage Escape From New York, they returned to their proven self-insulated chemistry for 2020 EP now, more than ever.
