Combining the songwriting talents, musical skills, and indelible voices of Grant McLennan of the Go-Betweens and Steve Kilbey of the Church, Jack Frost was a collaboration that was short-lived but resulted in two fine albums. Both 1991's Jack Frost and 1996's Snow Job are delightful combinations of the elements each musician had in spades: deeply felt emotion, a knack for crafting barbed melodies, and words that veer between poetic and painfully real. Mostly based around their voices and a variety of guitars both electric and acoustic, they also indulged in some sonic experimentation and occasionally let loose and rocked a bit.
