New York-based artist James K makes ethereal, otherworldly art-pop influenced by ambient techno, dream pop, and trip-hop. She issued her debut album, PET, in 2016, and has collaborated with Gobby (as SETH), Mykki Blanco, Yves Tumor, DJ Richard (as Funky Doodle), and others. Her second album, 2022's Random Girl, flirted with shoegaze and post-industrial, and several acclaimed singles pointed toward a more downtempo direction for 2025's Friend.
