Jaydee Bixby is a country singer from Canada who rose to fame with a second-place showing on the reality show Canadian Idol. Born on August 14, 1990, in Drumheller, Alberta, he got his musical start in a band comprised of family members, including his mother and father. In 2008 he successfully auditioned for Canadian Idol with the song "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" and garnered a reputation on the show for performing similarly far-before-his-time songs, including four Elvis Presley numbers. He also showcased a passion for country music, performing songs by John Michael Montgomery ("Sold [The Grundy County Auction Incident]"), Conway Twitty ("It's Only Make Believe"), Lonestar ("Amazed"), and Johnny Cash ("Ring of Fire"). Though he ultimately finished behind winner Brian Melo, Bixby was awarded a recording contract with Her Royal Majesty's Records and proceeded to release the full-length solo debut album Cowboys and Cadillacs. Featuring the hit single "Old Fashioned Girl," the album proved popular in Canada, topping the country albums chart and breaking into the overall Top Ten. ~ Jason Birchmeier
