J.J. Caleについて
Singer-songwriter J.J. Cale taught himself the ropes of sound engineering and built his own recording studio while still living with his parents in Tulsa, OK.
∙ After he signed to Leon Russell and producer Denny Cordell’s Shelter Records in 1969, his first four albums each made the Billboard charts.
∙ In 1970, Eric Clapton had a Top 20 hit with Cale’s song “After Midnight,” and his cover of “Cocaine” was a Top 40 hit seven years later.
∙ Cale’s biggest hit, 1972’s “Crazy Mama,” peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart—and might’ve gone higher had he agreed to lip-sync it on American Bandstand.
∙ Clapton called Cale “one of the most important artists in the history of rock” and joined him on the 2006 Grammy Award-winning album The Road to Escondido.
∙ Stay Around, his 2019 posthumous album, featured 15 previously unreleased songs written by Cale.
