Jodlerklub Wiesenberg is a 19-member volksmusik group from Switzerland who were awarded the 2007 Prix Walo in the category of Schlager/Volksmusik. Formed in 1988 in Wisenberg, a mountain region in the municipality of Wolfenschiessen in the canton of Nidwalden, the group for many years was chiefly known for its live performances. In fact, they didn't release their first album, Meys Edelweyss, until 2000, over a decade into their existence. Jodlerklub Wiesenberg's breakthrough success came in 2007 with the release of their second album, Mey Freyd. The album became a Top Five hit on the Swiss albums chart thanks largely to an exceptionally popular cover version of "Ewigi Liäbi," originally a 2006 Top Ten hit for the Swiss rock band Mash. Overall, Mey Freyd charted for approximately a year and earned Jodlerklub Wiesenberg the 2007 Prix Walo in the category of Schlager/Volksmusik. ~ Jason Birchmeier
