Sub Focusについて
Sub Focus, aka Nick Douwma, is a London-born producer who began playing in rock bands before turning to electronic music as a teenager. Rising from the underground jungle and drum ’n’ bass scene, he was signed to RAM Records after a friend got his demo to producer and label head Andy C. Known for fusing high-energy rhythms with melodic, genre-blending sound design, Douwma’s early releases—particularly his 2009 self-titled debut—established him as a hard-hitting voice in UK D’n’B. But 2013’s Torus quickly showed he wouldn’t be tied to just one style: collaborating with MNEK, Kele, Foxes, and more, he broadened his approach to embrace elements of pop, house, and more euphoric dance music. After partnering with Wilkinson on 2020’s Portals, Sub Focus returned with Evolve in 2023, a record that expanded his musical palette while keeping his precision and emotional intensity intact. He followed with his fourth album, 2025’s Contact, which featured appearances from Katy B, John Summit, and Fireboy DML, and explored a space-themed aesthetic influenced by the Cold War and NASA’s Voyager Golden Record.
