Singer and songwriter Khasa Aala Chahar not only adopted the name of his village Khasa Mahajan in Haryana as his moniker, but also makes sure the values he learned from rural life are reflected in his hit songs. Chahar began his career when he wrote the love song “Jat Jatni” for Sukh Deswal in 2019. Having spent some time behind the scenes as a lyricist, the artist aka Abhishek Chahar made a concerted effort to become more of an all-rounder, turning composer, singer and lyricist on “Father Saab”, an open-hearted letter to his father, promising he will make him proud, the following year. Chahar would continue the theme with “Maai”, dedicated to his mother.
Across party songs about friendship (“Jai Veeru”) and resolute messages to haters (“Middle Finger”), Chahar found a fruitful collaborator In KD Desirock, leading to their songs “Yaar Haryane Te” in 2021 and “On The Way” in 2022. Beyond his local identity, Chahar also took on a love duet “Mohtarma” in 2021 with Upasna Gahlot that further solidified his ability to speak to younger audiences—something he carries off with modern pop flair.
