Glammy but political, punk but unrepentantly commercial, the Living Things defy easy categorization. Formed in a St. Louis suburb, composed of brothers Lillian Berlin (vocals), Eve Berlin (bass), and Bosh Berlin (drums), with Cory Becker on guitar, the group earned a name for itself playing parties before relocating to Los Angeles, where it issued the TURN IN YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS EP in early 2003. Steve Albini-produced, Bush- and Jesus (among other things) -baiting BLACK SKIES IN BROAD DAYLIGHT was released the following year. AHEAD OF THE LION (2006), released after a label change, reprised nine songs from its predecessor. HABEUS CORPUS, which found the group embracing a more subdued approach musically if not lyrically, followed in early 2009.
