Pianist Lura Johnson communicates directly with audiences, discussing the music as well as performing it. She is active as both a solo player and a chamber musician. Johnson has made several recordings, releasing both solo and chamber music albums. Among the former group was a complete recording in 2025 of both books of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, interspersed with the 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87, of Shostakovich.
