Born and raised in Seattle's Central District, MC Porter Ray creates highly introspective hip-hop reflecting on his tumultuous life experiences. His nimbly delivered raps often touch on intense personal subjects, but they're backed by dreamy, atmospheric music. Ray has been writing and rapping for most of his life, but he didn't begin releasing material until 2013, several years after he lost both his father and younger brother. As Ray worked on his proper debut album, his Nightfall EP was released independently in 2015. Ray's Sub Pop debut, Watercolor, arrived in 2017. ~ Paul Simpson
