Deconstructionist trash-rock act Pussy Galore is noteworthy, if for no other reason than the bands that it would eventually spawn -- Boss Hog, Free Kitten, the Royal Trux, and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, among others. Formed by the latter act's titular corpse-of-Elvis frontman in the early 1980s, Pussy Galore were about as offensive, aggressive, and inaccessible as a band that professed a love of the Rolling Stones could be. Nonetheless, Spencer and company's clanging no-fi sound, and its slaying of one rock & roll sacred cow after another, represented a fearless interpretation of punk, one that influenced many a band to follow in its twisted wake. ~ Rovi Staff
