In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
I got a Fisher-Price cassette recorder for my birthday. It came with a yellow tape, “Discover A World of Sound,” a theatrical tutorial full of skits and musical numbers. Had a very Zappaesque play on “On Top of Old Smokey.”
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?

“Key of G”
Wrote this in a cottage in East Nashville around 2008. The city had such a lonely beautiful feeling back then. I felt a certain way playing these gigs around town with strangers I met off Craigslist. This is one of the purest songs I’ve written.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Opening for Guided by Voices during their brief reunion with their “classic” lineup. They really opened my world of sound when I heard Bee Thousand in 1994. You didn’t have to make music that sounded like the present.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
I’d like to produce an album by a major act like Smash Mouth
