Positioning themselves as the leading producers of what they call (perhaps somewhat sarcastically) "sophisticated exotica for adults," Quiet Village released a trio of 12" singles across 2005 and 2006 for Whatever We Want. While the sources of their sample-heavy material became increasingly known, interest in the releases did not wane; demand far outstripped sales. Two years later, !K7 remedied the supply problem by issuing Silent Movie, a full-length release containing five of the six tracks from the singles, in addition to seven new tracks. Their self-issued Fragments of Fear mixes have only enhanced a reputation for spinning the obscure and terminally uncool into gold. ~ Andy Kellman
