Rick Anderson is a full-time librarian and part-time music critic living in Greensboro, NC. He grew up in Boston and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at Brigham Young University. He began reviewing CDs in a weekly column for the Daily Herald in Provo, UT, in 1990, and has since written music and book reviews for numerous national and local publications. Rick is also a practicing musician who plays guitar, banjo, dulcimer, string bass, Irish flute, bodhran, and 18th century rope-tension field drum. He was a founding member of the legendary Utah ska band Swim Herschel Swim, and has also played in numerous dance bands, jazz combos, and a couple of college orchestras and concert bands. His contributions to All Music Guide focus on reggae and ska, his areas of greatest interest and expertise, but also include reviews of rock, jazz, and folk albums.
