The South Korean girl group SISTAR were reliable hitmakers in the '10s—both as a unit and as solo artists.
• After scoring a No. 1 hit in South Korea with the 2011 synth-pop single “So Cool,” SISTAR was unstoppable. They went on to top the charts with every release until they disbanded in 2017.
• K-pop fans came to anticipate SISTAR’s annual summer single. Tracks like “Loving U,” “Touch My Body,” and “Shake It” were upbeat, seasonal pop anthems.
• The group wasn't just known for bubblegum hits. The slinky disco cut “Alone,” the burlesque-pop romp “Give It to Me,” and the acoustic R&B track “Lonely” all showcase their range.
• SISTAR’s popularity extended to the individual members. Hyolyn and SoYou scored multiple No. 1 hits during their time in the group. Hyolyn and Bora broke into the splinter duo SISTAR19, which scored major hits like “Ma Boy” and “Gone Not Around Any Longer.” Dasom starred in the music videos for chart-toppers like SoYou’s “Some” and K.Will’s “Please Don’t…”
