TUBEについて
A Japanese pop band influenced by surf-rock, TUBE gained a dedicated following both at home and in Hawaii throughout the ’80s and ’90s.
∙ “The Season In The Sun” was the group’s 1986 breakout single and their first song released under the more widely known name TUBE.
∙ In 1993, they earned their first No. 1 on the Oricon Singles chart with the beach-themed hit “Natsu wo Machikirenakute” (“I Can’t Wait For Summer”).
∙ In addition to composing the theme song to the Japan Professional Football League’s inaugural season, guitarist Michiya Haruhata wrote for such ’90s J-pop acts as Mai Kuraki and ZARD.
∙ The band marked their 15th anniversary with their first-ever US show, held at Honolulu’s Aloha Stadium on June 1, 2000—a day commemorated by the state as “TUBE Day.”
∙ They became so well known throughout their career for releasing records only between the months of April and July that they spawned the Japanese catchphrase, “Summer comes with TUBE.”
