Eaton designs and builds many of the stringed instruments he plays, and he's come up with some unique hybrids like the "koto harp guitar," the "o'ele 'n strings" (a double-necked instrument), and even a 26-string guitar. The Phoenix-based artist performs and records most often with Native American flutist R. Carlos Nakai. Together they create haunting, highly resonant, original pieces inspired by places and cultures of the Southwest. ~ Linda Kohanov
