When Camilo Séptimo formed back in 2013, they were hardly new kids on the block—all three members had individual histories within Mexico’s indie scene. A clutch of folk-styled demos sketched out by lead singer Manuel Mendoza laid the groundwork, with keyboardist Jonathan Meléndez and guitarist Erik Vázquez rounding out a distinguished lineup. Their experience shines through in their slick sound—the epic, spacey psych-rock of hit single “Me Dejas Caer” and the blissed-out synth-pop wooziness of the heartfelt and reflective “Miénteme”.
