The Blackwood Brothers are one of the longest-running and biggest-selling groups in gospel history. Formed in Mississippi in 1934, they achieved national visibility on Arthur Godfrey's TV show in 1954. Gospel fan Elvis Presley auditioned for the group and got turned down, though members of the group would later tour with him. Among their many awards is a Guinness World Record set by the late J.D. Sumner for the lowest voice on record. After more than 200 albums and many changes the group continues, led by second-generation member Billy Blackwood.
